Privacy Policy
Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Niggly ("we", "us", "the app") handles your information when you use the Niggly mobile application and this website.
Niggly helps you self-manage a recurring sports injury by tracking your pain and training load over time. We keep the data we collect small. By default, the health information you enter stays on your device. It leaves your device only if you choose to share a niggle with your physio. Details below.

Who is responsible for your data
The controller of the personal data described in this policy is Morgan Evans Crawford, a sole trader in England and Wales. You can contact us at hello@niggly.app.
What information Niggly collects
Account information
You create a Niggly account with your email address and a password. Supabase, our authentication provider and data processor, handles sign-up and sign-in, so your email address and password go to Supabase. We never see your password in plain text.
Health and injury-tracking data (on your device by default)
When you use Niggly you enter information like:
- Niggle details: a name you give it, body location, injury type, your pain limit (called your pain threshold in the app)
- Morning pain logs: a daily pain rating (0 to 10) and optional notes
- Exercise logs: load compared with your last session, exercise type, pain during and after, optional notes
- Your recovery phase and its history, and the scores and trend Niggly calculates from your entries
By default this information is stored on your device only, in the app's local storage. Niggly does not upload it to our servers unless you share a niggle with your physio (see below). If you delete the app, locally stored data is deleted with it, and we have no copy to restore. The exception is a niggle you have shared: a copy may still be held on our servers as described below.
If a future version adds cloud backup or sync of your own data, this section will be updated before that ships, and you'll be asked to consent to it.Notification preferences
If you turn on morning reminders, we store your preference and reminder time on your device and use it to schedule a local notification through your phone's operating system. This does not go through a third-party push notification service, and we don't know whether or when you receive it.
Waitlist and interest forms on this website
If you join the waitlist, or register interest as a physio, we collect your email address (and, for physios, an optional clinic name) so we can contact you about early access. These sign-ups are received and stored by Netlify, our website hosting provider and data processor.
What we do not collect
No advertising identifiers, no ad SDKs, no analytics or usage-tracking SDKs, no crash-reporting SDKs, no location data, and no contacts, photos or other device data beyond what is described in this policy.
Sharing with your physio
Sharing is optional, and it is not available in the app yet. When it is released, it will work as follows.
It only happens if you choose
You share one niggle at a time, with a physio's email address that you enter. Nothing is shared unless you do this.
What is shared
For the niggle you share:
- Your name as you entered it
- The niggle's name and body part
- Your pain limit
- Your phase and phase history
- Your morning pain logs
- Your exercise logs (load compared with your last session, and pain during)
- Any notes you wrote on those logs
- The scores and trend Niggly calculates from them
Where it is stored
To make sharing possible, that niggle's data is stored on our servers, hosted by Supabase, while the share is active.
What we record about a share
The physio's email address, when you shared, when the link was sent, and when the physio first and last viewed it.
How your physio gets access
The physio signs in with their email address using a one-time link. They can only see niggles that have been shared with that email address.
Stopping sharing
You can stop sharing at any time in the app (in Physio access, or Settings, then Sharing). Access ends immediately. Deleting a niggle also ends every share for it.
Why we can do this
Health information is special category data. We process it for sharing on the basis of your explicit consent. You can withdraw that consent at any time by stopping sharing.
What your physio does next
Once your physio has seen your data, how they use it is between you and them, under their own professional and data protection obligations.
If you are a physio
If an athlete shares a niggle with you, we hold your email address, the times you sign in and view a share, and which shares you can see. We use this to send your sign-in link, to show you only what has been shared with you, to let the athlete see who has access, and to keep the service secure. Niggly for Physios is in pilot preparation and is not live yet.
Who we share information with
- Supabase, our authentication and hosting provider (a data processor), used to manage sign-in and, for shared niggles, to store the data described above.
- Netlify, our website hosting provider (a data processor), which receives the email address you enter on the waitlist and interest forms.
- The physio you choose, only for a niggle you have shared with them.
- Nobody else. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising or marketing, except where required by law.
Your choices and rights
- You can stop sharing a niggle, or delete the app, at any time.
- You can withdraw your consent to sharing at any time by stopping sharing.
- If you're in the UK or EU, you have rights under data protection law over personal data we hold: access, correction, deletion, portability and restriction. Contact us at hello@niggly.app to exercise them.
- You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you are unhappy with how we handle your data.
Children's privacy
Niggly is not directed at children. You must be 16 or over to use it.
Medical disclaimer
Niggly is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It's a self-management tool based on general load-management principles used in sports rehabilitation. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional (such as a physiotherapist or doctor) about a real injury, especially if pain is severe, worsening, or not improving as expected.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above.
